Phillips nearly pulled off the upset of tourney-dominant Hotchkiss, but fell just short.
Hotchkiss ended the drama with a goal early in overtime to hand the Big Blue a 1-0 loss in the New England Prep A semifinals.
Phillips has never defeated Hotchkiss and was looking to end the opposition's eight-year run as the Class A champions.
"We were getting pelted in the first half but as the game went on the kids gained more confidence and played a great second half," said Phillips head coach Kate Dolan.
Co-captains Summer Washburn and Kellie Walsh each played well for Phillips, in the setback.
"We took them to overtime and and held them scoreless as long as we could but that is why they have won eight years in a row," said Dolan. "They are just very good and we played them even today. It was our best game we ever played against them.
"The special thing about ths team is that we started 2-2 and then won 12 in a row. it was amezing how they took off," said Dolan.
