Greater Boston League champion Waltham struck for the only goal in the second half and ousted Masconomet, 3-2, in Division 2 North state tournament action.
Kelly Gibson, who wears No. 17, scored her 17th goal and collected her 17th assist for Masconomet (13-5-2). Janey Diamond notched her 18th goal for the other Cheiftains' score and picked up her 10th assist.
Melissa Rodman, a defender, and Liz Osgood, centerback, also had strong games for 11th-seeded Masconomet.
"The girls played unbelievably well," Masconomet coach Becky Iseman said. "The school had gone six years without qualifying, and this was the second of three years we've gone to the tournament.
"The improvement in the program has been rewarding. We've gone from four wins to 11 to 13, and I'm very proud of what these 10 seniors (including five starters) have accomplished." Mandy Pizzi had 12 saves in the Chieftains net.
