Salem's new boys coach, Mike D'Agostino, is assured of one phone call each night. It'll be from his predessor, Rene Novoa, who will want to know what's going on with the Witches. Novoa's now the Malden Catholic coach, but obviously his heart is still with Salem. That is, until Salem and MC meet at the end of the regular season for the first time.
"I did my apprenticeship under Rene and I owe him a lot," D'Agostino said.
Salem has a young defense that will rely on stopper/sweeper Brad Duhaim and defender Jeff Iwanicki, both juniors, and senior stopper Abraham Oyewole.
"I see us improving day to day. These kids are confident," D'Agostino said. "They have team unity and pass the ball very well. We've also had some injuries, but we've got a great test (tonight) at Peabody."
