"We're picking up steam all the time," Masconomet boys soccer coaching legend Lene Emmons said, recapping a 7-0-1 start. "Kevin Van Lenten at center midfield and our stopper, Ian Gelinas, have been solid on defense. Tyler Bodengraven's return from a groin pull has made us a much better team.

"We only have nine seniors on the roster, but Kevin, Ian and Tyler have been critical players in their leadership roles. The younger players see how hard they work and realize they've got to emulate the captains."

The Chieftains tied St. John's Prep in their opening game and have since won seven in a row. Senior forward Ali Olia has been Masco's key offensive weapon. "A tough little guy with good skills," Emmons said, discussing Olia.

Jon Doucette, the goalkeeper, is the fourth brother to perform for Emmons, and the third family member to guard the goal.
