This week's mileage award has to go to the Methuen boys varsity and JV teams. Looking to venture out of the MVC, the Rangers made the lengthy trip from Methuen to Hyannis Saturday morning and then hopped an 11 a.m. ferry to Nantucket, where the Rangers took on the aptly named Whalers of Nantucket High.

"Two years ago we went to Martha's Vineyard and we didn't get to do anything last year," said coach Claude Beaudet. "We just thought it was a good opportunity to give some of these kids who had never been off the mainland a different experience."

While the Rangers dropped a 2-0 game to their island hosts, the Ranger JV squad prevailed, 3-0, and the hosts sent the Rangers back on the ferry with free pizza.
