Mukena Mbiye picked a good day to turn in his best game of the season.

The senior forward scored twice to lead No. 7 Central Catholic to a 2-0 victory over No. 15 Winchester in the quarterfinals of the Division 2 North tourney.

It was Mbiye's first two-goal game of the season. He now has eight goals, one off the team-high, and three assists for the year.

He started the scoring off early, tallying his first goal four minutes into the contest. He added the insurance goal eight minutes into the second half.

He was helped out on the defensive end by senior KB Oshodi, who spent much of the game locked up on Winchester's top offensive player.

"KB was just a force," said Central Catholic head coach Ray Flaherty. "They have a very unique attack where a kid throws the ball almost 60 yards in with accuracy. KB was just huge. He took about 20 throw-ins out of the air with headers. He was just great at getting to the ball before they did."

Goaltender Brendan Slein turned in a dominant effort with 10 saves, despite being kicked in the knee. Tim Adamchuk and Mike Bakhtiari each added an assist while Mike Zappala stood out on defense.

Central Catholic next takes on No. 6 Dracut. The time, date and location of the game have yet to be determined.
