Molly Fitzgerald fired a shot to the top corner and beat the Dracut goalie with 16 minutes remaining, giving Haverhill a 1-1 tie and clinching the Merrimack Valley Small Conference title.
The win wiped out the bad memories of a year ago when Haverhill was in the same situation — needing a win or tie but lost a heartbreaking 4-3 decision. Turn the clock 12 month ahead and Haverhill didn't squander the opportunity and came out with the tie to earn the title.
"Mentally this was a very big challange," said Haverhill head coach Fred Tarbox. "I am so proud of this tem and theese players. They deserve it.
Sophomore keeper Meghan Gulbradndsen made 16 saves to secure the tie.
