Poretta takes top honors

Pentucket senior Alanna Poretta took over the race in the second mile and won going awayto capture first in the Division 2 McIntyre Invitational at Franklin Park.

Poretta breezed to first in 18:39.6, defeating runner-up Lee Milne of Dover by 36 seconds. It was Poretta's best time at the 3.1-mile Franklin Park course and the second fastest girl time of the day. Jenna Davidner  of Oliver Ames won the Division 1 race in18:32.0.

"I think this shows that Alanna is going to have ahuge year," said Pentucket coach Todd Ruland.

In the Division 1 race, the top local runners were Andover's Molly Van Doren (21:00.6) and Central Catholic's Kelsey Kowal (21:07.5), who were 25th and 28th respectively.
