The Sachems (7-8) swept the singles matches against Ipswich yesterday, as Karena Webber (3-6, 6-1, 6-1), Rachael Downey (7-6, 7-6), and Sarah Dillon (6-3, 6-2) each had solid matches. The Sachems can clinch a tourney spot with a win against Triton this afternoon.
"Rachael Downey was level-headed and consistent throughout; her match turned out to be the difference-maker," explained Sachem coach Laurie Dunnet. "Karena Webber may have played her best match of the season. She used a great variety of shots, and really controlled the play."
