Andover flamethrower John Farrell allowed just four hits over seven innings. But he was out-dueled by Lawrence's Victor Mendez, who allowed just two hits as the Lancers downed the Golden Warriors 1-0. Jose Sandoval drove in the lone run, singleing home Juan Ventura.

I went to see this kid cause i have heard alot about him Farrell that is... very impressive throws very hard. But to label an article as a pitcher out dueling one of the best in the state is very inaccurate. Lawrence had hands down a better lineup than andover. Andover has been sub par this year as far as offense goes. Bottom line Farrell pitched a hell of a game. The other pitcher threw a good 15 mph slower and faced a much worse lineup than what Farrell did. With all of that into consideration i really think you should pick a better title for an article like this next time. Plus there was 3 hits for both teams and that run was unearned third baseman should always knock that down. Bad reporting all around terrible name you cant pitch a better game than that and have this crap title thrown at you. Farrell if you read this im sorry for this ignorance and i really wish i could take this journalists spot. I also have seen his era at .58 with a 1-2 record which again leads me to believe Andovers offense can't get the job done.

please don't take anything away from mendez. he pitched a hell of a game, when it was needed. He DID NOT throw 15 mph less than Farrell but Farell did throw a litlle harder. so please don't come up with excuses for Farrell. In conclusion i congratulate the Lancers on a great win, making it their 5th straight in a row.

I've been impressed this year with Lawrence's ability to not let the mental errors effect the outcome of a game . Good start to the season 8-2 and the overall team depth and hard work is showing early on in the season. Both kids pitched well. I 'm more concerned with both teams not putting the ball in play . When the post season rolls around you have to manufacture runs even with 4 or 5 hits . If you don't you are not going to be alive in the postseason very long.

First off i would like to say Juan ur an idiot this is obviously a fan so that means it can't be his team thats that u spelt his name wrong and used caps???? who does that anymore, now i have to agree with blue or watever his name is. When you throw a 3 hitter against one of the best teams in the state. Another thing yes Mendez pitched a great game. if you look back on prior games and stuff Andover's hitting has been crap. No offense to them but they just have been crap. Billerica pitched a 2 hitter against them!!!! Thats a really bad team. again juan ur an idiot this guy that posted this is clearly a spectator so how could it be his team??? u really gotta read more.
