Haverhill | 55 |
Central Catholic | 90 |
Even with standout Lauren Berg sidelined due to a bizarre science class accident, Central Catholic's 26-point roll through the field events led to a 90-55 win over Haverhill.
Berg, who achieved an area-best shot put effort in the state indoor meet, cut her throwing hand during a dissection and had to get five stitches. Pending reassessment of the injury, she is slated to return next week.
In her spot, Lourdes Pena tossed a winning 34-7 for the Raiders (2-0) while three teammates were double winners: Tori Catanzano (pole vault and triple jump), Michaela Poulin (long jump and 400 plus a third in the 100) and Katie Lafrance (both hurdles events).
