Methuen senior Sarra Bergeron apparently couldn't wait for the season to open.
Bergeron pitched a terrific one-hitter, allowing just a bunt single in the sixth inning as the only baserunner, while striking out a career-high 15 batters in an 11-0 Methuen rout of Greater Lowell.
"She threw the ball extremely well on a day that was not the best," said Methuen coach Jason Smith.
Bergeron also was 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored. Abby Carbonneau, on her birthday, added two RBIs.
