Odds and ends: Matt Bartlett and Matt Naylor are battling for the top quarterback spot. ... Several Rangers are nicked up, including Steve Saba and Justin Marsan. They aren't expected to miss significant time, though. ... After an injury-plagued 2006, Giuliano Pizzo went to kicking camp this summer and opened some eyes. Coach Pat Graham thinks he's an All-MVC level talent ... The Rangers switched to a more wide-open offense this fall with shotgun and one-back formations in their playbook. ... Graham is expecting big things from backs Mike Bartlett, Nate Krikorian and Marsan and wide receiver David Koerner. ... Graham, 35, took over for Glen Gearin, who had a 3-37 record in four years. The hulking 6-4, 230-pound former Greater Lowell Tech and Central Connecticut star was the defensive coordinator at Lowell High. ... Methuen is hoping to snap a 32-game MVC losing streak.

Pat Graham (1st year): "I really think we're going to be competitive. I think we have the ability to be in all of our games. It's a matter of how much we improve in the next couple weeks. Implementing the new system, it's a little bit of a transition for some of these kids. There's an adjustment period. Everybody's predicting Methuen and Haverhill at the bottom (of the MVC), but I'm sure Methuen and Haverhill think differently. I don't think there are going to be any easy (games)."
