HAVERHILL | It was a frigid night at Haverhill Stadium, with a light snow falling. Unfortunately for the homecoming crowd in attendance, both the snowflakes and the Hillies were finished before the whistle blew on the game's opening half.

Tewksbury forced a pair of turnovers, an interception by Eric Magee and a fumble recovery by Ed Donovan, and scored 28 points in the first two quarters en route to a 40-14 romp.

Haverhill's front line crumbled under the assault by tackles Donovan, Tyler Deshler and Matt Bailey. Deshler forced the Peter Byron fumble, which was snatched by Donovan, and all three were ever-present in the Hillies' backfield, making first-half passing all but impossible for Byron (6 for 11, 125 yards), who threw just one completion in the half.

By the second half, the Redmen were rolling. Haverhill's kick-off was received by Tewksbury's Derek Lowe, who turned it into an instant six point. Dodging tacklers, he turned upfield and went 82 untouched yards.

With the game already out of hand, Byron took control of the Hillies' second-half offense, running for 83 yards and amping up the passing game.

Justin Cook (4 catches, 112 yards) scored on 40- and 30-yard passes from Byron. Immediately following the Hillies' first TD, Matt Bowdridge returning the kickoff 83 yards to end any hopes of a comeback.

The Hillies will have a final chance to get their first win of the season on Thanksgiving against struggling Lowell.
