On Saturday, the Fishermen (10-4-2) blanked the Big Blue, 5-0 at Salem State's turf field.
Kat LaCroix and Marissa Drozd scored two goals apiece while Brianna Aloisio (assist) tallied the other Gloucester goal. Olivia Frontiero had two assists. Olivia Brown was the other star in the win.
Meanwhile, Fishermen goalie Alicia Unis made five saves to earn the shutout.
"It was one of the most outstanding games I can recall in all my years of coaching," said Gloucester coach Kim Paitence. "It was such a sharp game, we were so intense."
With the state tournament just around the corner-the seedings come out next Monday-it also gave Gloucester a chance to get reintroduced to a turf field since the last time they saw one was in last year's tournament against Lincoln-Sudbury.
