HAVERHILL —  Central Catholic's baseball team didn't waste any time getting its offense untracked.

Playing at home in their opener, the Raiders scored five runs in the first and added four more in the second on their way to a 13-0 romp over St. Peter of Marian.

"It was a pleasant surprise to see us scoring runs like that in our first time on the diamond," said Central coach Marc Pelletier. "They had been down to Florida for five days and scrimmaged so I wasn't expecting this."

Steve Hajjar (3 for 4) led the way with three hits and three RBIs, Dom Keegan and Joey Sanchez both scored three times with Keegan knocking in two runs.

Three Central pitchers, meanwhile, allowed just two hits with starting pitcher Nate Carpenter leading the way. He went four innings, allowing just one hit while striking out four.
