Central Catholic took on one of the state's best programs in Newburyport and battled to a scoreless deadlock at Lawrence Memorial Stadium.
Junior goalie Lauren Hoole (10 saves) was phenomenal in the first half with several diving stops and sweeper Mariele Elie anchored a blanketing defensive effort in the second half. To date, Central has allowed only four goals in eight games with six shutouts.
"Newburyport's a very well respected team in the state and this was a big game for us," said Raider head coach Anne Marinaro. Both teams now stand at 7-0-1.
