Whittier Tech flexed its muscles in the upper weights at the Dan Gionet tournament in Pelham to finish second behind Marblehead/Swampscott.
Jon Ahern placed first at heavyweight, with pins in 13 and 56 seconds and teammates Chris McNulty and Erickson Rivas finished third and fourth respectively. Ahern was joined in the winner's circle by 195-pounder Andrew Buzzell.
Also, Alex Vega was runner-up at 106 and both Angel Alicea (113) and Peter Hamel (132) finished third.
Host Pelham was led by freshman Conor Maslanek, who won the 160-pound class with a 4-2 decision in the finals and was named the tourney Outstanding Wrestler.
