GILFORD — It's been long awaited, but Pelham picked up its first win since the 2014 season with a 19-12 victory over Gilford Saturday afternoon.
Quarterback Zack Koch hooked up with Charlie Katin for a 9-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to give Pelham a 7-6 lead, and the Pythons didn't look back from there.
Brett Lindsay had a 25-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, and Koch added a 15-yard TD run in the fourth. Lindsay led the way on the ground for the Pythons, racking up 102 yards on 12 carries.
Where Pelham shined however was on the defensive side of the ball. Linemen/linebacker Chris Barsalou made six tackles, had three sacks and forced two fumbles. Katin also made seven tackles and came up with an interception, and Jake Kirane made six tackles as well.
The win snapped a 15-game losing streak dating back to Oct. 4, 2014.
Pelham is hosting Sanborn next Friday at 7 p.m.
