Odds and ends: Central made the state tourney for the 10th straight season and had the second best record in the 11-year history of the program (21-4 in 2002). ... The Raiders will miss the All-MVC battery of Rachel Merrick and All-Scholastic catcher Melissa Lucas. ... The pitching duties will be split between juniors Carla Borrelli, a lefty, and Liz Habib, who pitched for the JVs last year. ... Senior Rachel Wyrwa and junior Erin Swarbrick are battling for the starting job at catcher. ... Another promising pitcher, Jackie Foley, did not come out. ... New JV coaches Casey Grange (CC '03) and Brittney Kannan (CC '05) are former standout Raiders.

Coach Stacy Ciccolo (5th year, 56-28): "If we can settle in with our pitching and catching, which are two tough spots to lose at the same time, I think we'll have another good season. I definitely feel that we'll be competitive. We have three strong seniors in Lindsay (Martin), Monique (Gosselin) and Chelsey (Guselli) who have a lot of experience, are very talented and can lead our team."
