BILLERICA — Elijah Harris rushed in from 29 yards out to cut Whittier's deficit to just one score 1:07 into the fourth quarter. But the Wildcats could not muster the tying points, and Shawsheen punched in a final score with just over two minutes left to down for a 28-14 victory.

"It was a great game and I am very proud of how my team responded," said Whittier coach Kevin Bradley. "We made an impressive comeback, but fell a little short. But we played a good game."

Whittier had a chance to tie the game late in the first half, but fumbled the ball away at the Rams' 1-yard line and trailed 7-0 at the half.

After Shawsheen took a 14-0 lead, Shane Mambro returned the kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-7. The two teams then exchanged scores before the Rams finished it off.

Brendan Farrell led the Wildcats defense along with Jeff Moldish and Izaya Croswell.

"That first touchdown could have been big, but those are the breaks of the game," said Bradley. "We had it a one-score game until the final minutes. Are kids are improving."
