Truthfully, the North Shore has yet to really make its mark on the face of postseason girls lacrosse. The Chieftains would love to change that.

Masco is 12-2 with games remaining against Hamilton-Wenham and North Andover, and so far it has averaged 18.9 goals per game. The Chieftains maxed out at 25 goals and twice hit 24. Clearly, any team that meets them in the postseason will need to find a way to slow down the offense.

The Chieftains want to play at a fast pace and love to catch opposing defenses off-guard in unsettled situations. Kathleen Ragan, twin sisters Brittany and Heather Fraser, Maura Brazel, Madeline Hardy and Sidney Godett are all big-time scorers. It's hard enough to slow down one scorer, but stopping five or six is nearly impossible.

The secret to beating Masco | or at least having a chance to | appears to be keeping them under 15 goals. In the two losses, Masco scored 10 and 14 goals, respectively. Only once this year did Masco score less than 15 and win | an 8-7 victory over Triton to start the year.

The intensity will pick up in the postseason as every team in the bracket will be able to run with the Chieftains. But as long as Masco can continue to put up big numbers, it has a chance to stay alive in the tournament.
