Armed with the knowledge that a win would clinch at least a share of the CAL Division 2 title, and a win and a Triton loss would synch the title outright, Georgetown was unrelenting on senior day scoring its highest goal total of the season to put away North Reading, 20-9.

After a loss to Marblehead, Georgetown coach Heather Hartford said it was important regain the focus the Royals had in their best game of the season last Thursday in the win over Triton, 10-8.

"The Triton game was very intense, and probably one of the best game I've seen the girls play, but we had a misstep against Marblehead and needed to pull it together against a good North Reading team," Hartford said, "and we did. We played really well in the transition game, and our offense was really on."

In the five years since the girls lacrosse program's inception, Georgetown has come a long way. In the three years the Royals have been in the CAL they have qualified for states each season, and have now successfully defended their CAL Division 2 title of a year ago.

"This is huge, we started as absolutely nothing five years, I didn't even know lacrosse existed," said Katherine Falzareno, one of two girls along with Kaela Barta that have been with the program all five years having first played in eighth grade. "It's amazing how we got this far. We hang out so much together now, we look at each other as another family."

Shannon Hartford had another headline grabbing performance with six goals and six assists, Falzareno had three goals, Michelle Reilly also had a hat trick, Alyssa Rosenthal had two goals, Kristin Pingree, Kate Grosslein, Stephanie Brennan, Megan Makiver, Emma Cannon, and Kim Nowers each had one goal, while Emily Messelaar and Pauline Reilly each contributed one assist.

Although not incredibly busy, April Surette still picked up 10 saves for the Royals as well in the win.
