The most baffling aspect of the first month of the baseball season has been the performance of Swampscott, which is 1-6 despite boasting one of the deepest pitching staffs around. With games schedule for every day the rest of this week, the Big Blue could quickly climb out of the hole | or find themselves nearly six feet deep.
The first of three straight contests takes place this afternoon at Lynn Classical. Tomorrow, they host one of the state's top teams in Malden Catholic, and cap it off with a date with Lynn English Friday.
With games against conference foes Peabody, Beverly, Danvers and Salem still to come, the Big Blue's road back to .500 will be anything but easy.
