Odds and ends: The Lancers once again competed at Disney Spring Training in Orlando in the preseason, going 2-3-1 in six games. ...  Senior outfielder Nicole Moran, a starter last year, transferred to Manchester Central. Another letterman, Ellyse Davis, didn't come out in order to concentrate on volleyball. ... Londonderry has not beaten Salem in Wayne MacDougall's 11 years as head coach, but the Lancers are getting closer. ... MacDougall calls this year's freshman class one of the best he's had. ... Brooke Beaudet, Andrea Ouellette and Molly Rooney all made All-Class L last year and, says MacDougall, Cristina Bailey should have as well.

Coach Wayne MacDougall (12th year, 121-100): "I have a great group of seniors and, if I get the senior leadership to bring along the younger players, we should be in good shape, but I don't know if we can match last year's record. With Brooke (Beaudet) and Andrea (Ouellette) pitching, and some good hitting from our returning kids, I think we'll be pretty strong if we can work the younger kids in. A lot will depend on our catcher, who will either be a senior, Kristen DiMatteo, or a freshman, Abby Lang. They have some talent, but one of them will have to step up. "
