PLAISTOW, N.H. | Upstart programs like Timberlane have given Pinkerton Academy fits in recent years. Take Tuesday's loss to 6-9 Memorial for example.

"Not today," said lefthander Nick Gregsak. "We haven't always beaten teams we should, but it's something we're working on. Today, we played very well, like we have to."

Improving to 4-0 on the year, Gregsak tossed six innings of six-hit ball, shackling Timberlane in a 6-2 Astros win.

The senior southpaw walked five and fanned just three but benefitted from flawless defense behind him. He allowed only one painful stroke, a two-run triple in the third by Nick Mascioli, before stepping back and allowing righty Bill Dodge to close it out with a scoreless seventh.

"They made all the plays behind me, and that was huge," said Gregsak, whose ERA now stands at 1.81 in 27 innings of work. "And I had all the confidence that Bill was going to do the job like he did."

The Astros, now 9-6, pecked away for an unearned run in the first and another in the second on a Jason Carace RBI hit.
Sparkling sophomore Zach Mathieu broke things open in the third with a two-run triple to deep right, scoring himself on Tyler Pacheco's sacrifice fly.

Mathieu, who is now hitting .311 on the year after a 4 for 25 start, chipped in a sac fly of his own in the fourth.

Owls reliever Cam Fagan slammed the door on Pinkerton with three innings of scoreless, one-hit relief, but Gregsak and Dodge, nursing the four-run lead, matched him pitch for pitch.

Pacheco and Joe Guidi each had two hits for Pinkerton. Now 7-9, Timberlane got a pair of hits from Mike Donovan and Matt Sheehan.
