PLAISTOW — Timberlane Regional punctuates every home score with fireworks. Nashua South brought plenty of its own explosives here Friday night, inching closer to a playoff berth while running the Owls off their own home turf, 49-28.

With the loss, the Owls fell to 1-4, despite an impressive start that saw them lead 7-6 after one quarter and midway through the second, 14-6.

"We did some nice things in spots," said Owls coach Kevin Fitzgerald. "We got a couple scores early and were able to get our defense off the field a couple times."

Jacob Post, the future face of the Timberlane program, continued his monster freshman campaign with a TD catch of seven yards and 88-yard streak down the left sideline for a kick-return TD in the fourth.

"He's a good player, who continues to find a way to make plays for us," said Fitzgerald."We've thrown a lot at him. He's just a good football player."

Unfortunately, Post was one of the few positives on a night where the Panthers dominated the speed department, opening the field up and inflicting damage repeatedly.

"We knew this was a tough matchup for us," said Fitzgerald. "With their speed, I knew they'd be tough in open space."

Panther senior QB Malik Langa tore through the Owls defense, both on the ground and through the air, amassing 320 yards of offense with four touchdown passes and a pair of TD runs.

"He's a great athlete," added Fitzgerald. "But we knew that coming in. He gave us some problems, especially in the second half."

Not to be outdone halfback Andrew DeCarteret carried 11 times for 144 yards and scores of 12 and 70 yards.

For Timberlane which saw the lead taken away just before halftime and then watched as South piled it on, Tyler Furey led the ground game, paying for all 70 yards he earned on 19 carries.

Timberlane next travels to winless Keene on Friday night.
