BELLINGHAM — The Wildcats put the hard-fought opening game loss to Austin Prep and the 75-minute ride to Bellingham behind them.
Whittier turned in a strong two-way effort and blitzed Bellingham 38-12. Scott Bonneau scored three times while Connor Bradley fired two touchdown passes.
The Cats played an inspired defensive game. Josh Martin, Robbie Gramstorff, Bonneau and Doug Angus earned kudos for their coverage skills. Jake McCartney had two sacks.
Jesus Sanchez rushed for 112 yards including a 61-yard touchdown jaunt to open the scoring.
Whittier (1-1) plays Lowell Catholic Friday at Westford.
