Eastern Independent League rivals Landmark and Pingree were matched evenly last night, and it was Highlander standout Allen Williamson that made the difference. For once, though, it was entirely his offense that dented the opponent.

"Landmark kept it close with (Jordan) Yorks having 11 in the first half, but we switched Williamson to him in the second half and that was a big key for us," said Highlanders coach Steve Gibbs, whose team improved to 15-4.

In spite of 20 points from Brett Peterson, Landmark couldn't push its way through in the second half and was hampered by turnovers in the final minutes.

"Pingree is like the Yankees to us | they beat us all the time and they're our rivals," said Landmark coach Bob Iannucci.

Williamson did score a game high 33 to go with 12 rebounds while Will Taft added eight | six in the second half | and Derek Pratt made double figures with 11. On the Landmark side, Yorks finished with 13 and Ryan Skerritt chipped in 12. "It was a gritty effort but they outlasted us," said Iannucci.
