Going into last Saturday, Spaulding had dominated New Hampshire Division 2 to the tune of a 46-game unbeaten streak. Over the last week, Timberlane has soundly put that streak to rest.
Nick Bundzinski's goal with 5:34 left in regulation gave the Owls a 2-1 win, their second victory over the Red Raiders in six days.
"It was a much better effort than we have had," said Timberlane coach Andrew Merrick. "More guys wanted to go hard and skate for the puck. Anytime you beat Spaulding it's a big win."
After falling behind 1-0, the Owls' David Evans tied the game up 1-1 when he took a pass from Dayne Denton and beat goalie Jon Cote.
Then, late in the third, Bundzinski picked up a loose puck in his end, skated down the left wing and beat Cote over his stick side for the winner.
Ryan Rothwell was once again a rock in net with 20 saves. And the defense held Spaulding to one shot in the third period.
