It's safe to say that the Rockport boys hockey team has found its offense.

After scoring just one goal in their two previous games, the Vikings erupted for a 9-1 victory over Nashoba Tech on Saturday night. With the victory, Rockport boosted its record to 4-6-3 on the season.

"This is the offense we needed," said Rockport head coach Mike Greel. "We scored every different kind of goal in this game. We pounded their crease and stuffed a few in, and had goals on quality shots."

After being held scoreless in the first period, Rockport scored seven of its goals in the second period, five coming in the first four minutes of the frame.

Derek Johnson netted a hat trick and had a fine all-around game for the Vikings. Meanwhile, Pat Hofman had two goals and Cam Smith had a goal and two assists to also lead the way. Adam Clay (goal, assist), Eric Juncker (two assists) and Matt Graves (two assists) also had multi-point games for Rockport.

"Everybody left the rink with a good feeling," said Greel. "I think the team feels we broke out of our offensive slump. We have good reason to be confident going into the Pope John game on Wednesday (7)."
