The Manchester Essex girls basketball team will be heading into the state tournament on a very positive note.
In their final regular season game against rival Rockport last night, the Hornets rolled to a 53-35 victory and picked up their third straight victory. The win was also the team's sixth in their last seven games. At 12-8, Manchester Essex feels good about its position as it waits for its tourney seeding.
"We're very happy," said Hornets head coach Lauren Dubois. "This is best we could've done. We won the games we that we should've won down the stretch."
The Hornets were sparked by a balanced scoring attack, with three players in double-figures. Dani Ciccone led the way with 13 points, while Sam Christopher and Annie Osborne had 10 points each. Taylor Rogers played a solid defensive game for Manchester Essex.
Rockport junior forward Tia Nelson did all she could to keep the Vikings in the game with 19 points and five 3-pointers. The Vikings finished the season 2-16.
