It was a wild day for Haverhill track, with both the boys and girls meets decided by the 4x400 relay.
On the boys side, the relay was even through the first leg, but on the second leg the Dracut running fell and tripped the Haverhill runner. The Middies were disqualified and the Hillies were named winner s, 42-38.
"I have never seen anything like that in all my years as a coach," said Haverhill coach Mike Maguire. "And I've been coaching for 23 years."
The girls side was a more traditional victory, with Bridget Twomey, Kaleigh Fitzgerald, Jackie Solimine and Samantha Wise teaming to take the deciding relay in a convincing 4:31.1 for a 45-41 Hillie victory.
