Will Poss made 14 saves but Phillips boys soccer lost 2-0 to Hotchkiss in the New England Class A finals yesterday.
"We got off to a slow start and we didn't really get anything going until the second half ... (when) we came out much stronger and put up a fight," Phillips coach Bill Scott said.
Hotchkiss led 1-0 at halftime.
Isaac Normesinu and Mohammed Rashid, both of Ghana, scored for Hotchkiss.
"They were quicker and stronger than us today," Scott said.
Scott said Phillips' best player yesterday was Poss, who is All-State as well as an All-New England nominee from Chestnut Hill. He hopes to attend Dartmouth College next year.
Poss posted six shutouts this fall.
"He's 6-4, 215 pounds and because of his size he is rangy and covers a lot of ground," Scott said about Poss. "Pretty intimidating presence. He had a great game."
