With Timberlane riding state title efforts from the long-distance duo of Hannah Kimball and Katerine Estep and Pinkerton riding loads of point-scoring contributors, the two school tied for third place in the Division 1 state championships at Dartmouth College.
Both teams had 41 points, trailing only runaway champion Bishop Guertin (107 points) and Exeter (50).
Kimball blasted the field in the 1,500 meters, running a 4:53.06 that was over nine seconds faster than the next finisher. Estep had a tougher challenge in the 3,000 but won by over two seconds with her 10:49.80.
On the other hand, the Astros had no individual titlists. Abbey Smith placed third in the dash and the hurdles while adding a sixth in the long jump. Margaret Barrie was third in the 300 and a fourth in the dash.
Eighth-place Salem (21 points) provided that area's other champion as Victoria Rozumek won a tight fight in the high jump to repeat.
