For eight years, Pinkerton Academy cheerleaders have dominated the Class L championship ranks, and they don't show any signs of slowing down.

Under the direction of coach Michelle McCarty, Pinkerton's spirit squad has been a highly consistent team for many years, scoring big in competition and bringing a lot of school spirit to sporting events on campus and beyond.

"It's been absolutely incredible," said McCarty in an interview following a big win in March of this year | the team's seventh state championship | at the New England Competition at the University of New Hampshire. "We had six titles in a row at one point."

The Astros performed last spring in their championship season by stunning the crowd with exceptional tumbling and stunting skills, and showing off their well-practiced showmanship. All of this hard work made the team very prepared to take the state's top crown for spirit.

The state title earlier this year topped off a winning season for the Astros. The team also won first place at the Bishop Guertin Classic, the Capital City Competition, and was named Grand Champion at the Medford, Mass., Beach Blast, all taking place in February.
