The Pinkerton Academy Marching Band has kicked off another season full of music, drills, and field maneuvers and are hard at work to keep the pace going through the fall season.

The band | with its approximately 150 members | is under the direction of director Michael Adams and performs at all the school's football games through the season. The band is also a regular fixture in area holiday parades and other special events.

The band will play an eclectic mix of music this year, Adams said, including a doo wop version of "Little Bitty Pretty One" and an Emerson, Lake and Palmer number, "Karn Evil 9."

The director said he chose the music to keep the student musicians challenged, including the 40-member senior class band members and a strong drumline this year.

Drum majors for the 2007 season are Nicole Archambault, in her second year as a drum major, and Dan Fleury and Nick Pothier. It's their responsiblity to help the director by conducting the musicians on the field and also make the rookies feel comfortable.

Once football season ends, there will still be holiday parades in the area to attend, then the indoor concert season begins for Pinkerton's instrumentalists.
