Whittier hits hard

Freshman Andrew Wells got ample support from his offense to go the distance in his first start as Whittier knocked off Mystic Valley, 8-3. Brandon Martinez (two doubles, three RBIs), Dillon Ryan (two hits including a double off the top of the outfield fence, RBI) and Steve Surette (two RBIs) contributed the brunt of the Wildcats' 11-hit attack.

Long ball

Billy Lafferty hit a solo homer to center field and Brandon Martinez smashed a three-run home run to center in a four-run fourth inning to lift Whittier to a 9-4 victory over Greater Lawrence.

Comeback win

Billy Lafferty hit an RBI single and Dillon Ryan stroked a sacrifice fly in the seventh as Whittier came back from two down to tie the score 4-4 in its final at bat. Then, in extra inning, Nate Allen hit into a fielder's choice to score the game winning run as Whittier won 5-4 in nine innings.

Colby Starner blasted a three run homer over the fence in left field as part of an eight-run comeback rally by Whittier, who beat Shawsheen 9-8. Whittier entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 8-1. Steve Surette tied the game on a base hit to right. Billy Lafferty walked with bases loaded to earn the winning RBI.
