Whittier Tech senior Mills Carrasco drilled six 3-pointers for 18 points as the Wildcats improved to 6-1 with a 51-42 victory over Minuteman. Whittier will host a tough Lynn Tech team Thursday afternoon.

Double-double down

Mike Davis and Mills Carrasco both had a double-double to lead Whittier over Greater Lowell 61-60. Davis scored 13 points with 10 rebounds and three blocks and Carrasco scored 11 points with 10 rebounds.

Whittier vs. Greater Lowell, championship game of the Greater Lowell Tech Christmas Tourney

Andrew Wells' 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer capped a wild fourth quarter for Whittier who closed out a 14-point deficit in the final eight minutes to force overtime.  From there, the Wildcats went on to an 80-75 win over  the host school of the Greater Lowell TECH tourney. Ryan Grant led Whittier with 35 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks.  Wellls had 19 as the Wildcats improved to 4-1.

Whittier vs. Stoneham (at Greater Lowell Tech Christmas Tourney)

Ryan Grant got the hot ahand down the stretch as Whittier overcame a 10-point fourth quarter deficit to force overtime and eventually defeat Stoneham, 65-57 in the first round of the Greater Lowell Tech Tourney. Grant had 26 points and 12 rebounds while Mills Carrasco had 13 and Alvin Taylor added 12.

Whittier 58, Northeast Metro 44

Marck Galva pulled in 14 rebounds to go with his seven points in a 58-44 opening night win for Whittier over Northeast. Galva also swatted five blocks.
