DERRY, N.H. — For two-and-a-half quarters Salem and Pinkerton Academy hooked up on a hoop teeter-totter, bouncing the lead back and forth.

Enter the schoolyard bullies, Ben Proulx, Zach Mathieu and the up-front Astros, who simply muscled Salem off the ride.

LAWRENCE — Pinkerton trailed much of the way but outscored Greater Lawrence 17-6 in the final quarter to capture the seventh-place game 60-51.

Sophomore forward Chris Light scored all eight of his points in the fourth while big men Zach Mathieu (19), Ben Proulx (12) and Alex Patrikis (12) combined for 43 points.

LAWRENCE — North Andover sank 10 3-pointers to shoot down Pinkerton, 58-50, in a Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney consolation game.

Zac Iovanella and Tommy O'Connell each bagged three treys for nine points while Matt Sifferlen (15) and Zach Karalis (12) added two apiece. Sifferlen bounced back in a big way after being shut out in the tourney opener against Andover.

LAWRENCE — Paul Neal had glowing praise — with a major qualification — after his Lawrence club put it together late to beat Pinkerton.

"It was a great win, given how bad we played,'' said Neal.
