Kiele Coleman’s clutch two-run single tied the score, and Makenna Donovan untied it with a three-run double.

Ilene Rickard picked up the win with three scoreless innings of relief.

Rangers qualify

With win no. 10 on Wednesday night, the Methuen High girls made it official, locking down a state tourney berth for the 21st straight year with a 12-0 win over Chelmsford. Colleen McNamara paced the 12-hit attack, going 4 for 4 and driving in five runs. Mackenzie Yirrell fired a two-hit shutout, striking out eight for the victory.

Seven Methuen batters combined for 17 hits and Kylie Anthony tossed a one-hitter in a victory over Lawrence. Jenny Grelle drove in six on her three hits while Kiele Coleman scored five times and drove in three and Kyra Meuse had both four runs and four RBI.

Game of firsts

Methuen got right back on track, snapping a two-game mini-skid with a 9-3 softball win over Chelmsford. Freshman Colleen McNamara made her varsity debut at the plate and had hits in her first two at-bats. Ilene Donovan came off the injured list and spun a seven-hitter to earn her first victory of the year in the circle. Kyra Meuse went 4 for 4, and Makenna Donovan laced a home run and drove in four runs.

Raiders make noise

Sophomore Julia Malowitz spaced five hits and struck out eight as Central Catholic knocked Methuen from the ranks of the softball unbeaten with an 11-2 win.
Ava Shea and Caitlin Milner each drove in three for the winners. Milner, Olivia Boucher, Katie Fox and Hayley Rapaglia had two hits apiece for the Raiders.
Kyra Meuse had two of the five hits for the 4-1 Rangers.
