Knights throw scare into state power

North Andover pushed powerful Notre Dame of Hingham to the brink before falling 9-8. Leah Chittick and Abbie Karalis tallied three goals apiece for the host Knights (2-1) while Courtney Karelas scored twice. Lauren Hiller shined with 14 saves. The Knights know the Frank family well. Perhaps a little too well. Notre Dame is coached by Meredith Frank, the former Northwestern star. Her mother, is legendary Westwood High coach Leslie Frank. Westwood won the Division state title last spring, beating the Knights 14-4 in the semis. Notre Dame won the D1 title in 2013. Second-year Knights coach Meredith Prior liked what she saw yesterday. "We lost to them (ND) by 10 last year (15-5 on April 28)," said the young coach, a former Merrimack College star. "I"m very proud of our girls. We showed them we are a force to be reckoned with. We look forward to the playoffs."
