North Reading had a season-best 11 hits including its sixth extra-base hit of the season — a Colby Maiola home run — in an 8-0 victory over Rockport. R.J. Warnock threw a two-hitter and benefitted from a pair of Hornet double plays defensively.

Under tough playing conditions in Byfield, pitchers Ryan McAuliffe and Ryan Boucher shined as North Reading blanked Triton, 10-0. Neither hurler yielded a walk and held the host Vikings to just four hits. Mike Brandano came through offensively for the Hornets with two hits and a pair of RBIs.

North Reading's bid for a perfect run through the Cape Ann League season was stunted by Pentucket's Jon Simard in a 2-0 Sachem shutout win yesterday. The Pentucket senior dazzled in a two-hit shutout of the Hornets, who had their 10-game win streak snapped.

North Reading edges North Andover

Colby Maiola's gap-shot triple cleared the bases in the third inning  On the play, an errant throw allowed Maiola to come all the way around as he too scored to pull North Reading into a tie with North Andover.  The Hornets tacked on runs in the fourth and fifth to claim a 7-6 win over the Knights.

Warnock and Linnane lead North Reading

RJ. Warnock was working on a three-hit gem but was behind by a run when he came to bat in the last of the fifth.  With two runners on, Warnock delivered a two-out double to help his own cause and lead North Reading to a 2-1 win over Lynnfield.  On the mound, the junior struck out three for a complete-game win.
