Sarah Higgins poured in a career-high 21 points to lead Pentucket girls basketball to a 58-28 victory over Amesbury.

Pentucket, thanks largely to the guarding of Leigh McNamara, held North Reading standout Lauren Hebert to eight points and rolled to a 48-27 victory. Sarah Higgins led the Sachems (8-3) with 13 points.

Strong second-half team defense stood Pentucket well in a 49-38 victory over North Andover. Sarah Higgins (13 points) and Coley Viselli (nine points) did a fine job defensively against one of the Knights' top scorers. Senior captain Julia Titone kept North Andover competitive with good leadership to go with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocked shots.

Pentucket's girls basketball team won its second game in two days, crushing Georgetown 71-45. Five players scored in double figures for the Sachems (5-3), including Tess Nogueira, who went out of Sunday's game with bruised ribs but scored 12 points and had eight rebounds in just three quarters. "We played pretty well, but now we have to get ready for North Andover on Wednesday," said Pentucket coach John McNamara.

Pentucket battled back from a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit but couldn't get a last-second shot to fall and lost to Westford, 60-58. Sarah Higgins led the Sachems with 14 points and Coley Viselli added 13.

After surging from a double-digit deficit to an eight-point second-half lead, Pentucket suffered from sloppy play and dropped a 44-43 decision to defending state champ Arlington Catholic in the Masconomet Tourney. Tess Nogueira led the Sachems with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

After Pentucket's 14-point halftime lead withered to two entering the fourth quarter, the Sachems regrouped to pull away from Newburyport 44-37. Sarah Higgins led the way with 14 points while Coley Viselli had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
