Bishop Guertin scored in the last 15 seconds to come back for a 68-67 victory over Pinkerton. The Astros battled hard but suffered down the stretch without Alex Patrikis (15 points), who rolled his ankle. Chris Light led Pinkerton with 31 points, 13 coming from the free throw line.

Nelsen, Miller lift Knights in 3rd-place game

LAWRENCE — Isaiah Nelsen had a double-double in the first half alone and North Andover bounced back from its heartbreaking semifinal loss with a convincing 65-38 win over Pinkerton in the Greater Lawrence Christmas Tourney third-place game. The Knights went on a massive 19-0 run in the third quarter and beginning of the fourth to put the game away. Brendan Miller led all scorers with a career-high 20 points.

Pinkerton, Central take different routes to semifinals

LAWRENCE — If last night’s quarterfinals were any indication, then Wednesday’s second Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament semifinal between Pinkerton and Central Catholic will be an extreme contrast of styles. The 7:45 semi showdown was set up when Pinkerton eked out a 43-40 victory over Andover while Central Catholic romped to a 76-35 win over Methuen.
