Phillips Academy senior Tim Wynter swam 49.09 in the 100 backstroke preliminaries at the Eastern Swimming and Diving Championships yesterday to break a 17-year meet record in the event.

Springfield Tech beat Northern Essex 66-63. Peterson Morency had 11 points and six assists and Neph Carmona from Georgetown added 13 points and five rebounds. Javonte Forbes added 10 boards and six blocks. The winners shot 45 free throws to 18 for the Knighrts.

Deerfield — Not accustomed to playing on real grass, Phillips Academy ventured to Deerfield Academy on Saturday and still put a beating on. Phillips came away with a 45-12 victory and remains unbeaten at 6-0 on the season.

Andover girls shine

 

Andover's girls shined  at the East Coast Invitational in Providence. Cassie Kobelski came in second in the shot put with a 38-3 heave, Courtney Comeau was second in the hurdles with a career-best time of 8.78 with Jillian Gamache in sixth, Hannah Chapman was second in the triple jump with a school-record 35-6. with Catherine Haut fourth at 35-4 and Chapman led four placers in the long jump, taking fourth at 16-5 and followed by Haut, Gamache and Comeau and Abby Taylor was seventh in the high jump with a best-ever clear of 5-feet.

Dynamite Dymecki

Senior Dan Dymecki was "fantastic" in the words of his coach, Phillips' Kevin Graber.

And that may be am understatement after the performance senior rigty threw yesterday in a two-hit mastepiece. Dymecki, who is headed to Lafayette for baseball, struck out nine and needed just 74 pitches to finish off Deerfield Academy.
