Scott Rose to the occasion

Captain Rose Scott posted personal bests in the 200 yard freestyle (2:59.03) and the 100 butterfly (1:45.99), and her second place finishes in both events helped Greater Lawrence win its final home meet, 90-74 over Minuteman. Adanis Belliard and Xavier Serrano had a first and second each in the Reggie victory.

Wildcats rewarded for dues paid

After a five-year drought, Whittier qualified for the state tournament with its 56-49 defeat of Minuteman.

"This is a big deal for the seniors that absolutely paid their dues and worked hard to get where they are," first-year head coach Tom Sipsey said. "They should be proud of their effort."

Six-foot-3 junior center Jessica Goulet is establishing herself as quite the shot blocker. She blocked six shots to help Whittier beat the Minuteman 53-48. Goulet also had six blocks in a win over Shawsheen Jan. 12.

Sophomore Joey Rivera erupted for a career-high 20 points in Greater Lawrence's 68-49 win over Minuteman. The Reggies broke open a 1-point game in the fourth quarter as Francicso Reyes took over. He finished with 13 rebounds. Donald Celestin contributed 18 points and 7 assists.

McDonough leads PMA to first victory

Meg McDonough scored a goal and added an assist to help PMA beat the Minuteman 3-1 to post its first victory. 

"They passed well and we were more aggressive," PMA coach Kevin Conlin said. "The girls were happy. They worked hard all year. We've had couple bad breaks but we're coming together."

Asselin, who fanned five, smacked a two-run homer of his own as part of a seven-run Whittier second.
