Sophomore Morgan Lumb scored 11 points and helped North Andover beat Wilmington 47-37. Pam Coufos scored 11 points and stole the ball six times.

Derek Collins scored eight straight points to spark a 12-0 run in the final minutes as North Andover put aside Wilmington, 62-58. The Knights trailed 50-49 with three minutes to play before Collins (16 points) buried a pair of long-range shots to ignite North Adover's stretch drive to the win. Zach Karalis had 15 for the Knights (2-0).

With the meet on the line in the final event, the team of Bernadette Corrado, Lexi Kitsakos, Marissa Porter and Liz Beauregard won the 4x400 relay in 4:36.6 to give Pentucket a season-opening 46-40 win over North Andover. Kitsakos (high jump), Corrado (300) and Porter (600) each added an individual win for the Sachems, who also bested Wilmington in the tri-meet.

Georgetown's boys soccer team played well to tie a strong Wilmington team, 0-0, but the Royals (6-6-3) need a win or tie today against Ipswich to make the tournament. Ben Warren made seven saves at goalie and Kevin Morrissey had a superb game in the midfield.

Sophomore Megan Haley had two saves in her first varsity field hockey game as Pentucket rolled to a 2-0 win over Wilmington.

WEST NEWBURY — Hours before the game, while eating his breakfast, Pentucket’s Nolan Dragon looked over at his father and told him he had a good feeling.

“I said, ‘I feel like we can win today,’” remembered Dragon. “It wasn’t a prediction, but we felt really confident that we could take this one.”

Kirsten Morrison led North Reading in kills, blocks and service points to keep North Reading's volleyball team unbeaten (15-0) with an easy swep of Wilmington. Morrison had a stunning 10 aces among her 14 service points.

Alana Houlihan scored her first goal of the season in North Andovergirls soccer's 2-0 win over Wilmington.

Midfielder Alex Medlock played well, too, coach Bud McCarthy said.
