Alex Smith had a key 7-6 decision, and Nick Scali squeezed out a 3-2 decision at 152.

Multi-sport standout Erik Hatton was flawless from the charity stripe, hitting all 15 of his attempts en route to a 27-point night. Hatton also added 11 boards in Timberlane's 70-58 win over Concord. Aaron Judson played his best game of the season with 8 points (two 3-pointers) and 6 rebounds.

Historic win

The Pinkerton wrestling team defeated Concord for the first time in its history, 40-30. The Astros had five pins and a key 7-5 overtime win by Matt Morin at 171. Also, 160-pounder Josh Kaake was key in an 8-1 loss to Concord standout Derek Brisson by staying off his back."This is definitely a big win for us," said Pinkerton coach Ken Najem.

Salem gymnastics wins big

Salem girls gymnastics defeated both Pelham (111.65) and Concord (94.05) by racking up 133.25 total points yesterday to improve to 2-0. Leading the way for Salem was senior co-captain Jess Maffeo, who placed first in vault (8.55) and floor (9), second in bars (8.3), and fourth on the beam (8). Pelham's Chelsea Ianson (first on the beam with a score of 9.05) had the second best all-around score with 33.5 points. Maffeo's teammate Shireen Kirata, a junior, finished third overall with 32.95 points.
