Collins, Lancers work OT

Hanna Collins calmly knocked home two last-minute free throws, sending the game to overtime, and the senior and her Londonderry Lancer mates took advantage, edging Nashua North in the extra session, 50-46. Collins opened with the first Londonderry hoop of overtime and Lindsay Willis sunk a huge three-pointer in OT to key the win. Savanna Butterfield scored 14 points and pulled in nine rebounds, while Callie King dropped in 10 with nine assists.

Pinkerton 52, Nashua North 32

Strong defense from senior Brendan Peguero sparked Pinkerton to a 52-32 victory over Nashua North. Coming out flat with just a three-point halftime lead, Peguero's hard work initiating the Astros' press created six steals for the swingman and kickstarted his squad's offense. Junior big man Zach Mathieu benefitted as he led Pinkerton (11-3) with 12 points.

Methuen makes strides

Jonathan Borden is finally recieving the support he's been hoping for. The netminder made 38 saves as Methuen earned its second win of the season, 3-1 over Nashua North. That doubles the Rangers' win total of a season ago, and tied their total from two years ago.

Struggling without top scorer

Timberlane's girls basketball team made it close, losing 43-41 to Nashua North, but it was its fourth straight loss since losing Tianna Parolisi to  a season-ending knee injury against Dover. "It's tough without her," admitted Timberlane coach Bruce Johnson. Parolisi will have ACL surgery Feb. 12.

SALEM, N.H. — Maybe Nashua North was too tricky for its own good.

Rallying from a two-touchdown deficit in the final eight minutes, the Titans drew to within one point with 22 seconds to play. They then lined up for an extra-point kick to tie the game and force overtime.

Salem 4, Nashua North 1

Bouncing Back

This time Salem won the battle of the unbeatens. Last Saturday, Pinkerton dropped the Blue Devils but yesterday Salem bested Nashua North, 3-1, handing the Titans their first loss in 10 matches. Salem rode the all-around brilliance of Amanda Saab to silence the crowd of nearly 300 fans at Nashua.
